📌 Reminder
In France, within the context of a rental, every individual must have liability insurance (RC) (this covers damages inadvertently caused to a third party in the context of private life).
Therefore, it is mandatory for each cohabitant to take out civil liability insurance. The cohabitant must be able to provide a certificate to Colette Club if requested.
When a cohabitant makes their first payment through Colette, it automatically activates an AXA insurance offered by Colette. We have taken out this insurance to save you from adding your new cohabitants to your Home insurance.
This insurance works whether you are an owner or a tenant, as long as this accommodation is your primary residence.
The guarantee covers the financial consequences of the civil liability of the cohabitant who booked on the website www.colette.club for material damages caused only to your host's property. This contract comes in addition to, or in the absence of, the guarantees that the tenant would have taken out elsewhere."
In practical terms, the AXA insurance covers your material and real estate property when the cohabitant causes:
Fire 🔥
Explosion 💥
Water damage 🚿
Glass breakage (vandalism, stone projection, collision...) 🤯
Or if, due to the fault of the cohabitant, there is a theft within the accommodation 🥷
AXA insurance covers damages exceeding 200 euros or 350 euros depending on the nature of the incident. The amount of the applicable deductible is equal to:
For property damage coverage: 350 euros
For personal property damage coverage: 200 euros
This insurance is not effective for the "minor damages" of everyday life caused by the cohabitant. For example, if the cohabitant damages a chair, a table, or a saucepan, the damages are not covered by the insurance.
